Aluminum and Stainless Steel Fabrication

Aluminum and stainless steel solve problems that mild steel cannot: rust, weight and food-safe surfaces. We fabricate with both for homes, kitchens and businesses across DFW.

Mild steel is strong and economical, but it rusts if its finish fails. Aluminum and stainless steel resist corrosion by nature, and each brings its own character. Aluminum is light and does not rust. Stainless is strong, hygienic and holds a clean appearance.

These metals are not simply swapped in for steel. They weld differently, they need cleaner working conditions, and they behave differently when cut and formed. Stainless can be damaged by contact with carbon steel dust. Aluminum needs specific filler and technique. We plan the work around those differences.

We fabricate gates, railings, shelving, countertops, guards and custom pieces in aluminum and stainless. For steel work in general, see custom metal fabrication.

Why customers call

Why customers choose these metals

Corrosion resistance
Pool areas, coastal-style damp environments and washdown spaces are hard on mild steel.
Hygiene
Stainless steel is easy to clean and common in food-related applications.
Light weight
Aluminum is much lighter than steel, a help for gates, panels and anything lifted.
Appearance
Brushed or polished stainless and clean aluminum finishes suit modern designs.

Design, materials and finish

Choosing between aluminum, stainless and steel

  • Aluminum

Lightweight and rust-free. Not as strong as steel, so heavy-duty uses may need a thicker or different design.

  • Stainless steel

Strong, corrosion-resistant and hygienic. Higher in material cost than mild steel and requires specialized welding.

  • Finishes

Brushed, polished or satin finishes on stainless. Powder coat or anodized-style appearance on aluminum where suitable.

  • Mixed designs

Steel structure with stainless or aluminum accents is sometimes the most economical approach.

Matching the metal to the job

Stainless is not one material, and different grades suit different uses. Food-contact and outdoor use may point to different choices. We discuss the environment, the loads and the finish you want before recommending a metal, rather than defaulting to the most expensive option.

How the work goes

A realistic project process

Project process

  1. Step 1

    Describe the item and environment

Call to explain what you need, where it will be used and any food-contact, outdoor or washdown conditions.

  2. Step 2

    Select metal, grade and finish

We discuss material options, dimensions and finish, plus scope and scheduling.

  3. Step 3

    Fabricate in clean conditions

Aluminum and stainless are cut, welded and finished in the workshop to avoid contamination.

  4. Step 4

    Deliver or install

The finished piece is delivered or installed at the property.

Scope and pricing

What affects the scope and cost

Every project is different, so pricing depends on the details. These are the factors that shape the work.

  • Metal type and grade
  • Size and thickness
  • Complexity of welding and finishing
  • Surface finish such as brushed or polished
  • Delivery and installation

Questions

Aluminum & Stainless Fabrication: common questions

Aluminum & Stainless Fabrication: common questions
Is stainless steel always better than steel?

Not always. It resists corrosion and cleans easily, but costs more. For many dry indoor applications, coated steel may be fine.

Can aluminum be used for gates?

Yes, particularly for lighter, corrosion-resistant gates. Heavier-duty gates may call for steel. We help weigh the options.

Do you do food-service stainless work?

We can discuss stainless fabrication for kitchens and food areas. Describe the item and requirements when you call.

Can aluminum or stainless be repaired on site?

Some repairs are possible on site, but these metals often need workshop conditions. We will advise by phone.
