Arched double iron entry door with glass panels and scrollwork in a stone entryway

Iron doors bring a sense of permanence to an entry, with deep profiles, glass panels, scrollwork and a weight that no hollow-core alternative can match. That weight is also the source of most problems. Hinges, frames and thresholds work hard, and a door that was hung slightly out of true will start to rub, sag or leave gaps.

We fabricate custom iron entry doors and steel security doors to suit the opening and the style of the property, and we repair existing doors, including adjusting hinges, re-welding frames, replacing hardware and refinishing weathered surfaces.

Door projects are very dependent on the opening. A door that fits perfectly must be measured carefully, and the surrounding wall or frame must be able to carry the load. We review those conditions before agreeing the scope.

Design, materials and finish

Design, glass and hardware options

  • Design

Single or double doors, arched or square tops, with scrollwork, grids or simple bars.

  • Glass

Clear, textured or privacy glass behind the ironwork, with options for insulated or tempered glass depending on use.

  • Hinges and hardware

Heavy-duty hinges, bearings, handles and locksets suited to the weight and use of the door.

  • Finish

Painted or powder-coated finishes in black, bronze and other colors, suited to exposure.

Why the opening matters as much as the door

A heavy iron door needs a frame and surrounding structure that can carry it, true and square, for years. If the existing opening is out of plumb, a new door will inherit the problem. Part of our review is checking the opening, and where needed, correcting or reinforcing the frame before hanging the door. Photos of the doorway and a few measurements are a good place to start the conversation.

How the work goes

A realistic project process

Project process

  1. Step 1

    Describe the door or problem

Call to explain whether you want a new door or a repair, and share photos of the opening or existing door.

  2. Step 2

Measure and agree on design or repair scope

We confirm dimensions, design details, glass and hardware, or the repair approach.

  3. Step 3

    Fabricate or repair

New doors are built and finished in the workshop. Repairs are completed on site or at the workshop depending on the work.

  4. Step 4

    Hang and adjust

The door is hung, aligned, and checked for smooth operation and a proper seal.

Scope and pricing

What affects the scope and cost

Every project is different, so pricing depends on the details. These are the factors that shape the work.

  • Single or double door and overall size
  • Design complexity and amount of ornament
  • Glass type and thickness
  • Hardware and lock type
  • Condition of the existing frame or opening
  • Finish and exposure to weather
